Introduction
Craigmount Parent Council flier
The purpose of the Parent Council is to involve parents in the running of their
child’s school and to find out parents’ views
about issues affecting the school. The Parent Council promotes
contact between the school, parents of pupils in attendance
at the school and the community. In whatever they do, Parent Councils have an important responsibility to support those
managing their schools to secure improvement in the quality
of education provided there.

Recruitment & Selection Training - To enable Parent Council members to participate in the recruitment of promoted teachers
The Parent Council consists
of:
- Parent Members: Elected
by parents of pupils at the school
- Staff Members: Elected
by the teaching staff at the school
- Co-opted Members: Chosen

meetings. Parent Council meetings are public meetings and
therefore any member of the public is entitled to attend as
an observer.
